A grown up lunch at The Ram Inn

Do people still do photo diary style blog posts? Because that’s effectively what this one is going to be! It’s not my usual style at all, but for the first time in a very long time, my husband and I went out for a pub lunch, child free, and I took a few pictures to document this rare occurance! We went to The Ram Inn, which is fairly local to us – we used to love the food here, but it went decidedly downhill during Covid. We recently tried again and it was great, so made the most of the twins being at nursery and my wonderfully flexible working hours today!

It wasn’t originally the plan, but we ended up having a three course lunch, and I’m still full up now, many hours later. I have absolutely no regrets though, and if anyone is ever around the Lancashire / Yorkshire border than I wholeheartedly recommend The Ram Inn! For me, while the food today was genuinely delicious, the view from the garden is the real selling point. It was nice enough to sit outside and enjoy the sun, and I was really in my element against the backdrop of glorious countryside!

I went for vegetable gyoza to start off my meal, and I wasn’t disappointed. They were amazing, and I’ve have them again in a heartbeat – they were vegan too! My husband had some chicken goujons which were cooked to perfection – a little less vegan though!!

For my main, I opted for a pie – the tomato, pepper & cannellini bean pie which is another vegan option. I wasn’t planning on going all out vegan, but these were the tastiest looking things on the menu to me! The pie was fantastic and the filling was beautifully flavourful. My only complaint here was that the veg on the side was a little cold and limp, but being honest, I didn’t care much about that! Husband had the chicken schnitzel with chilli butter – he gobbled it down so I think that option gets a thumbs up too!

The weather was so magnificent that I prolonged our stay in the pub garden with a coffee and an Eton Mess. The whole little outing was just perfect, and I’m determined to go back on another sunny day in the near future!

For full clarity, The Ram Inn have NOT sponsored me in any way to write these lovely words, and have absolutely no idea that I’m even writing this! I’m just really happy we had a great meal!
