Introducing the Tired Carers Club

As a parent and carer, I understand just how difficult it can be to juggle caring for a loved one while trying to keep up with everyday life. It’s a tough balancing act, and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and exhausted. That’s why I decided to set up the Tired Carers Club – a small initiative aimed at bringing a little bit of happiness to parents who are also carers.

The idea behind the Tired Carers Club is simple: I want to send out care packages to parents who are caring for their children. These care packages are designed to be small pick-me-ups that provide a bit of respite from the daily grind. I know from personal experience that a little act of kindness can go a long way, and I want to share that positivity with other parents who are in the same boat.

The first ten care packages, which I’ve called ‘Pick me up packages’, have already been made up and are ready to be sent out. They contain a range of treats and goodies that I hope will help to lift the spirits of those who receive them. Inside each package is:

  • A Lush bath bomb
  • Body Shop hand cream
  • Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate
  • A beautifully scented tealight
  • An aromatherapy essential oil roller
  • Some wildflower seeds
  • An art postcard

I’ve carefully chosen each item in the package with the hope that it will provide a moment of relaxation, comfort, and joy for the recipient.

I’m not trying to change the world with the Tired Carers Club. I know that these care packages won’t solve all of the problems that carers face, but I hope that they can make a small difference in someone’s day. Being a carer can be incredibly isolating, and I want to let other parents know that they’re not alone. I want them to know that there are people out there who understand just how tough it can be and who want to offer a little bit of support.

If you know someone who is a carer and you think they might benefit from a pick-me-up package, please take a look at @tiredcarersclub on Instagram where you can find an application form to apply for a package. I’ll do my best to send out as many care packages as possible, but as a small initiative, I do have limited resources. However, I hope that the Tired Carers Club can grow and expand over time so that we can reach even more people.

So that’s it – the Tired Carers Club is a small initiative that aims to spread a bit of happiness and support to parents who are also carers. The first ten care packages will all be on their way to their new homes by the end of this week, and I hope that they can provide a moment of relaxation and joy for those who receive them. If you know someone who is a carer and could benefit from a pick-me-up package, please do go and have a look at @tiredcarersclub for more information. Together, we can make a difference, one small act of kindness at a time.
