12 Days of Discovery from Chimney Fire Coffee

I’ve got hold of a 12 Days of Discovery box from Chimney Fire Coffee, and it’s the best alternative to a traditional Advent calendar I’ve seen in ages, so I wanted to share it on here!

As you’ll know if you’ve been here a while, or if you follow along on Instagram, I’m not a coffee expert in any capacity, but I do really enjoy a cup every morning! I’ve previously looked into the ethics behind coffee, particularly coffee pods, and it’s still something I like to keep an eye on.

You don’t have to look hard to see that Chimney Fire Coffee are a certified B Corp, and that they tick all the boxes where ethics are concerned. This is unbelievably refreshing, as I usually have to dig around for ages and sent multiple emails to find out where a company stand on various things relating to bean traceability and environmentalism. This is the statement on the ‘Our Story’ page on the Chimney Fire website, but the ethics of the company are made clear throughout the site.

“A SPECIALITY COFFEE ROASTER IN SURREY, CHIMNEY FIRE COFFEE WAS LAUNCHED IN 2017 BY DAN AFTER WORKING IN COFFEE AND COCOA TRACEABILITY AT ORIGIN. WE KNOW EXACTLY WHERE OUR COFFEE COMES FROM, USE SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING MATERIALS, AND PROVIDE A RANGE OF SPECIALITY COFFEES TO SUIT DIFFERENT TASTES, ALONGSIDE REGULAR COFFEE SUPPORT, TRAINING AND EDUCATION.”

In addition to being conscious about the traceability of their coffee and the planet, the company also work together with charities to make a better world. This is something I haven’t come across in any of the coffee companies I’ve looked closely at before, and is a wonderful incentive to support them as a company. In the case of the 12 Days of Discovery box, £1 from every box is donated to the charity, Re-Cycle, who work hard to get bicycles and spare bike parts to communities across Africa.

When it comes to the box itself, it comes jam packed with a tote bag and 12 70g bags of coffee in a grind of your choice. I opted for a course grind so I can use it in my cafetiere, but you can choose whole bean, medium, or fine too. When the box arrived, my lovely postie commented on how the box had made her van smell amazing – a comment that made me smile, and I can confirm that the box smells incredible.

Each bag of coffee is different, and comes complete with its own flavour profile so you can read more about it. Being able to try 12 new coffees in small portions is a wonderful way of being able to sample new flavours, and I can’t wait to get stuck in. Chimney Fire Coffee are currently taking pre-orders for this fabulous box, so head to their website to place your order!

While browsing the website, I also discovered that the company make compostable Nespresso compatible pods, which I will be investing in to try!

*This isn’t an ad! I was sent this sample box to talk about in an advent calendar guide on a different site here, but nobody asked me to write anything about it on this blog, I’m just very impressed and wanted to share!
